About the Role

The HR Manager will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for leading the HR function for Iron Asylum. This role will involve building consistent people practices, managing the employee lifecycle, and ensuring recruitment, onboarding, attendance, payroll coordination, and employee relations are handled with clear ownership, documented records, and timely follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Workforce planning and recruitment: Work with department heads to identify staffing needs, prepare role profiles and hiring plans, manage sourcing and interviews, and secure approvals for selection and offers. Track hiring progress and joining readiness.

• Onboarding and employee lifecycle: Own joining documentation, company and brand orientation, policy explanation, department training coordination, and probation reviews. Maintain the HR lifecycle tracker with milestone owners, dates, subtask status, evidence, and pending support.

• Policies and company culture: Develop and maintain policies for management approval. Explain attendance, leave, WFH, payroll, travel, reimbursement, conduct, and confidentiality requirements. Obtain employee acknowledgements and promote accountability, respectful behaviour, and collaboration.

• Attendance and payroll coordination: Own attendance and leave accuracy, approval follow-ups, and payroll input closure. Coordinate with Finance on payroll processing, employee changes, reimbursements, and queries; verify inputs and resolve discrepancies before the agreed cut-off.

• Employee relations and performance: Handle employee concerns fairly and confidentially, guide managers on documented feedback and review practices, and coordinate performance reviews, development plans, and retention actions. Escalate matters requiring management decisions.

• Training and manager support: Identify training needs with department heads, organize induction and role-specific training, and maintain completion records. Support managers in communicating responsibilities, work instructions, and performance expectations.

• Confidential records and folder governance: Finalize the HR folder structure and data migration. Maintain payroll and employee documents in restricted folders, with shortcuts in the main HR folder and approval-based access requests. Keep records current and manage access with authorized owners.

• Assets, handover, and exits: Coordinate asset issue and return with Admin/IT and relevant owners. Ensure asset-register entries and signed handover records are complete. Manage exit documentation, knowledge transfer, clearance, and final-settlement inputs with Finance.

• Compliance and management reporting: Coordinate applicable employment and payroll compliance with Finance and qualified advisers. Maintain relevant records, monitor pending actions, and submit concise HR updates, risks, escalations, and support requirements to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; an MBA/PGDM in HR is preferred.

• Typically 5–8 years of HR experience, including independent ownership of HR operations and coordination with leadership and department heads.

• Hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, attendance, payroll coordination, performance reviews, and policy implementation.

• Experience in a growing consumer-brand, distribution, retail, e-commerce, or similar business is preferred.

• Working knowledge of relevant employment and payroll requirements, with the ability to coordinate specialist support when needed.

• Ability to establish clear processes, maintain accurate records, and close actions on time.

• Proficiency in Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and HR systems; ability to manage trackers, reports, and folder permissions.

• Ability to handle sensitive conversations, support managers, and encourage an owner-driven working culture.
