Staff Accountant: Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and post entries to the general ledger.
  • Prepare, review and reconcile bank statements on a regular basis.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
  • Process accounts payable invoices and payments in line with payment schedules.
  • Manage accounts receivable tasks including invoicing, collections and cash application.
  • Prepare and post month end and adjusting journal entries.
  • Support preparation of financial reports and management accounts.
  • Assist with VAT, tax and statutory reporting as required by regulations.
  • Provide schedules and documentation to support internal and external audits.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation entries.
  • Monitor accruals, prepayments and other period end adjustments.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls.

Staff Accountant: Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or working towards a professional qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of two years practical experience in general accounting or a similar finance role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and month end processes.
