Tax Accountant: Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and file corporate tax returns and related schedules to meet statutory deadlines
  • Compile and submit VAT returns and ensure correct VAT treatment across transactions
  • Prepare payroll tax, withholding tax and other employment tax filings as required
  • Calculate tax provisions, deferred tax and prepare month-end tax journal entries for financial reporting
  • Conduct tax research on legislative changes and specific transactions and provide clear recommendations

Tax Accountant: Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum three years practical experience in corporate tax or public practice
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation, compliance obligations and reporting requirements
  • Experience preparing corporate tax returns, VAT and payroll tax filings
  • Experience performing tax provisions, deferred tax calculations and related accounting entries
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
