Suitable applicants will have strong architectural experience, sound technical judgement and the ability to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

Technical Architect Job Profile

The Technical Architect designs and governs the technical architecture of systems and solutions to meet business objectives. This role translates strategic requirements into scalable, secure and maintainable architectures that align with organisational standards and future growth.

The postholder works across delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure technical coherence, manage risk and drive technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle. Candidates should be able to balance immediate delivery needs with long term architectural integrity.

Technical Architect Job Description

The Technical Architect defines architecture principles, solution patterns and non-functional requirements, producing clear artefacts such as system designs, integration diagrams and deployment models. The role involves assessing existing landscapes, identifying gaps and recommending pragmatic migration or modernisation approaches.

The role requires active engagement with product owners, engineers and infrastructure teams to validate designs, guide technical decisions and ensure successful implementation. The Technical Architect provides technical leadership during development, testing and rollout phases and supports operational handover with comprehensive documentation and runbooks.

Expectations include governance of technical standards, participation in architecture reviews and continuous improvement of architecture practices. The Technical Architect will also mentor engineers, contribute to risk assessments and ensure solutions meet performance, security and compliance requirements.
